Archibald's

OUR HISTORY

In 1920, Mr. James Archibald bought a farm in Yackandandah with 80 bee hives on it from which his son Robert developed a life-long passion with bees. After perfecting the traditional methods of beekeeping and acquiring an expert knowledge of the Australian flora, Robert launched Archibald Honey Co. in 1959. His work required camping for extended periods on location throughout country Victoria, so his bees could find flora that would produce the finest honey possible. The honey was then extracted on site with hand-powered equipment and packed for sale. However, instead of identifying varieties by colour, which was the norm, Robert believed honey should be chosen by it’s flavour. As a result, he pioneered the idea of floral-sourced varieties which has been followed by the industry ever since.

OVER 50 YEARS ON

Today, Archibald Honey has proudly remained a family owned and operated business. Now in it’s 3rd generation, it has remained steadfast in it’s commitment to producing only 100% natural Australian honey. Robert’s son Gary has continued in his father’s beekeeping tradition of regularly camping with his bees throughout country Victoria - ensuring they source the best natural Australian flora possible. Now with over 50 years of fine apiary experience plus the benefit of modern machinery, Archibald Honey uses low temperature techniques to extract the honey from the comb. The result in a clear, smooth, 100% natural honey that has maintained all of it’s colour, flavour and nutritional qualities, with absolutely no additives.
